Central Foundation Boys' School

Welcome

We are delighted to welcome you to this new dedicated staff recruitment website. We hope it gives you an insight into Central Foundation Boys’ School, our aspirations for the future and, most importantly, how we will make our ambition of becoming an outstanding school, a reality.

The School

We are a small voluntary aided school founded over 140 years ago and we have a long established reputation for providing an excellent education for the boys of the area.

We combine traditional values with a modern approach. Our students work in a disciplined environment that is conducive to learning with excellent resources that match the needs of modern education in a traditional environment. Our staff are highly qualified and dedicated to enabling each child to achieve his potential. We work closely with parents and have good links with the local community. We benefit from extra resources funded by the Central Foundation Schools of London.

Students of Central Foundation Boys' School will receive a high quality education in its widest sense. Opportunities for learning extend well beyond the classroom with many extra-curricular activities being run throughout the school year.

 Ofsted

 Ofsted March 2006

  • Central Foundation is a good school...dedicated to ensuring that no boy should be prevented from learning for any reason
  • The school provides outstanding care and support
  • The school provides an environment in which boys feel safe
  • The atmosphere is calm and boys are well behaved
  • Central to the success of the school is consistently good teaching and effective leadership and management

Extra-curricular

At CFBS we provide an extensive, engaging and inclusive after school activity programme for our pupils. With over 25 different clubs offered during lunch times and after school, our pupils currently have a wide range of activities to choose from. In addition to the more traditional clubs such as football, cricket, music, drama and art, our programme also includes a number of specialised activities such as fencing, skateboarding, basketball, Kung Fu, Bengali, contemporary dance and urban music technology.

Unique to our programme is that we work in partnership with outside organisations which enriches our after school and holiday provision. An example of this is our close working relationship with the Sadler's Wells theatre who provide tailor made dance programmes for our pupils; offering in-school workshops, theatre visits and pupil performances at the Sadler's Wells theatre. We also collaborate with a youth music organisation who have delivered specialist music technology programmes at our school.

Business and Enterprise Specialist School

We have been a Business and Enterprise Specialist School since 2003. In 2009 Ofsted praised our work in this area:

  • Achievement is excellent
  • Excellent support for students in and out of lessons leads to students' outstanding achievement.
  • There is good provision of academic, vocational and applied courses.
  • There is an extensive range of links with businesses and visits and visiting speakers.

International School

The school has had International School status since 2005 in recognition of the global dimensions of the school curriculum and the extra curricular activities. We have resident language assistants in French, Mandarin and Arabic. All our students have the opportunity to an overseas experience. In 2008-09 our students had the opportunity to visit Austria (skiing), Berlin and the D Day Beaches (History), Paris and Nice (French Language), Alexandria (Arabic Immersion Course), Beijing (Mandarin Immersion Course).
