Introduction

Central Foundation is a small, friendly school that combines traditional values with a modern education. We expect all students to work hard and behave well. We care for the boys as individuals, provide an interesting, well-taught curriculum and reward our students' efforts. Our staff are highly qualified and dedicated enabling each boy to achieve his full potential.

We stress to our students that gaining the highest possible qualifications they can will stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives and we expect all our students to stay in education until the age of 19.

Central Foundation is:

• A school where boys achieve above the national average.
• A Business and Enterprise Specialist School. This has enabled us to enhance our facilities, develop the work we do in Business, Maths and ICT and extend our links with local business and the community.
• A British Council International School. We gained this award in recognition of the work we have done in developing a global dimension for the school
• A Leading Edge School
• An Artmark school for the work done in Drama, Art and Music.

The School has four blocks of teaching areas and the number of boys in the school is 840. Many improvements have been made in recent years, including refurbishment of the Laboratories and the provision of up-to-date computer suites, the latter was provided with the assistance of funds raised from a number of major companies and Old Boys of the school.

Recent major improvements include the provision of a covered multi-purpose all weather sports area, on land adjoining the school, and a large new wing provided by the Trustees. The school has also introduced computers and interactive whiteboards into all classrooms.
