The School
Regina Coeli Catholic Primary School is a Voluntary Aided Primary School within the Archdiocese of Southwark and in partnership with the London Borough of Croydon. The age range is from rising 5’s to 11 year olds. There are 420 pupils on roll.
The teaching staff establishment consists of Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, 14 class based teachers (some of whom job share) and 1.2 fte special needs support teachers. The Deputy Headteacher has a 0.6fte teaching commitment. The school has teaching assistants in all year groups with a mix of full time and part time positions. Additional pupil support assistants have specific responsibility of supporting pupils with special needs.
We also have a full time School Administrator, part time School Bursar, part-time Clerical Officer, Site Manager, four cleaners and 10 mid day meals supervisors. A total of seven teachers receive responsibility allowances (2 with TLR 2c, 1 with TLR 2b and 4 with TLR 2a) for management tasks and no remunerated allowances are allocated for specific curriculum areas.
The Governing Body operates a combination of full board meetings (termly), seminar meetings (termly) and specific meetings when required. The main committees are Finance & Property, Personnel, Curriculum Development and Remuneration. The Headteacher is a Governor. Traditionally the Deputy Headteacher is invited to be an Observer and may attend all meetings. The school is fully on line with LMS and operates a chequebook system.
The school, which has strong Catholic tradition, serves four main parishes within South Croydon and Selsdon. It was established in 1953 and the extensive buildings and grounds comprise a mixture of older and newer structures. Kendra Hall was the former family home of Allders of Croydon and the main house currently houses year 6, year 2, school library, computer suite (17 networked machines), medical room, offices, staffroom, conference room and Headteacher’s study. Newer accommodation houses years’ reception, year 1, year 3, year 4 and year 5. The school is fully networked and every classroom has an interactive whiteboard. The school has an excellent Performing Arts Centre, entrance area and school offices and this gives the school excellent facilities going into the 21st Century.
In October 2009 the school was inspected by Ofsted (Section 5) and in April 2010 by the Archdiocese of Southwark under Section 48 (report not yet available). Feedback and final reports recognise the strengths of the school and gave us clear direction on how to be an outstanding school in the future.
If you are successful after interview you will join a happy and hardworking staff. The school is fully committed to raising achievement and has clear plan expressed through the School Improvement Plan. You will be invited to share your skills and talents in a forward looking school where opportunities are given to gain management experience at all levels and initiative is encouraged from all.
